Late last night, as we sat by our tea time camp fire, cooking a pot of rice, a bearded man came up and joined us.
Ted, the man, told us tales of his marriage to two women (at the same time) and how he’s been to the depth of hell (literally hell – he had a stroke and his soul got sucked into darkness). As we cooked our rice, Ted recited his poetry around the campfire.
He ended by reading my palm. Congratulating Suede with a hand shake, he told me I am a sensual person and don’t want to be a house wife. Before leaving, Ted loaded us up with a loaf of bread, 6 small cartons of long life milk AND CHEESE!!!
For the next hour we sat by the fire making amazing cheese toasties.
The mice last night were like no other night. Storing our food in the tent, one hungry mouse actually ate a hole right through the tent.
This morning still full from night before, we had a light breakfast and set off!
We took today at a easy pace. It’s funny, Back in South Australia, it feels like we’re only a day from home.
We found the ULTIMATE bush camping spot tonight… A drain pipe under the highway. It was dry, sheltered, instant relief from flies, (we could eat tea without our fly nets.)
Being directly under the road meant the traffic sound was completely masked. A very tasty spot indeed!
